It can in specific scenarios, the Fang is better the higher the defense of the target. 6.As it currently stands, the Osmumten's Fang, to me at least, looks nice. It's clean, simple, nicely colored, boasts that desert weapon vibe perfectly, and is a very nice take on a stab weapon. It's not a thin and pointy rapier, it's not a spear, nor a dagger, instead it's a curved longsword with a very pointy tip. Rapier is up to 15% better at 0 def mobs, give or take a few percent depending on your exact setup, with the breakeven point around bronze dragons or black demons. Glad to see its working for you though, fang is a great all around weapon. Rapier is higher dps against mobs with defense lower than a bronze dragon or so.For your second question, fang is a pretty poor choice of weapon against low def targets. Whip is ~7.5% stronger on task than fang against mutated bloodvelds, which have 30 def level and 0 def bonus. Rapier is ~2.33% stronger on task than fang against black demons, which have 162 def level and 0 def bonuses. From what I’ve been gathering, rapier is bis until higher level raids- then fang is bis. I believe Partisan may be bis with a coordinated spec but I’m unsure if the team would want rapiers or fangs. Osmumten's Fang should really become a "rush" item for ironmen similar to bowfa. It is incredibly powerful, basically 2nd bis to a ton of weapons that will take waaaay longer to get. Plus, it is "reasonably" likely to get at 50-149 invo, so very accessible to mid-game irons witha chance at other very good items (lightbearer op), and the normal ...I feel like, at least for osrs, magic ( namely due to barraging and the already boosted damage ) is and has been really good. ( more click intensive ) but using ancient magiks with this staff is also horrendous it will almost garentee any barrage to hit and hit in upwards of 50s. .
