If you have the power, and the dough, go bigger, but if you have a 1927 house like me, with 120 wiring, its a good machine. One thing you can try is turn the igntion switch towards the run postion stopping just short of activating the electronics.Then try and move shifter to neutral then you can start it and out it into gear so you can drive it to get it fixed.Re: sp 125 plus and aluminum. Another thing to try first is when you are welding is keep the cable to the gun straight as possible. Higher guage wire doesn't travel around curves well as lighter gauge. That is a problem with 120 volt welders. 1) see can change the welder to 240 volt some Lincoln welder can be changed. 2) I fix by buying a 240 volt welder. 3) cheat use a 30 amp breaker some will use the dryer breaker in the garage. Loosen set screw in power pin and pull out liner. Have gun straight. Blow out gun and install new liner. before cutting liner install brass diffuser. with gun out straight cut liner flush with end of diffuser. use a side cutter and not a cutting wheel. split coils, bend to 45 degrees and cut.Rick get the sp-135 plus.Its a great little welder.With .023 stainless wire,and the right gas the little lincoln will spray arc.Thats pretty impressive performance.I just traded my little miller 130xp in on a sp-175 plus its a great little welder also.Spend the extra at the welding store,because you will get support if needed.That could make up the difference even if you bought a 135 tapped ...Mar 23, 2017 · Do this, you have to the wire back on to the reel. Once the gun is off, take a small piece of mig wire, bent into a u shape and poke it into the two gun switch cables. This will bridge the switch circuit and make the welder feed. If it works, the problem is the gun, (tip, liner) and if it doesnt, the issue is somewhere else in your machine.
